War of The Spark Magic Arena Update Reveals New Battlefield, Gameplay Changes & More

Wizards of the Coast

Magic: The Gathering's new set War of the Spark is coming to Magic: The Gathering Arena this week but the latest update doesn't just include the new cards from the planeswalker-focused set, it also comes with new mechanics, a new battlefield, bug fixes, and gameplay improvements.

Today, Wizards of the Coast have released a new video revealing the upcoming update for Magic: The Gathering Arena that will be released on April 25. Watch it here:

With the April update, when a player selects "Attack with All" while your opponent controls a planeswalker, you will now be prompted to choose which target instead of defaulting to your opponent. The new update also makes it clearer for players to see if a planeswalker has already been activated this turn.

With the new Amass mechanic from War of Spark, players will be able to make a Zombie Army, and your token will dynamically update across three different illustrations available.

The April update will also add a new battlefield that will take place atop Bolas's Citadel after the Elderspell has been cast, so you'll see stolen sparks flying across the battlefield.

In addition to the new battlefield and gameplay changes, new cosmetic options will also be available next week.
