Halloween is the perfect holiday for celebrating with costumes, candy, and anything that represents monsters and demonic entities. And who can forget Sauron from The Lord of the Rings?
Of course, Lord of the Rings fans know this and a group of them is hoping to get the city of San Francisco to light up the Salesforce Tower to look like the Eye of Sauron on Halloween night.
Over on Change.org, a group called The Fellowship started a petition to turn the Salesforce Tower to look like the famous Eye of Sauron from J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy series.
"We believe in the power of the internet as a gathering place for people to share ideas and affect real world change," the campaign reads "Our goal is to create a breath of creatively fresh air amid an otherwise barren political landscape."
"We invite the organization who has redefined the San Francisco skyline and, in the process, contributed to small and large business worldwide, to stand not only as a beacon for capitalist pursuit but to tip their hat to the people, culture, and community of this great city," the petition added. "A city built on creativity, exploration, and burning self-expression.
It's odd that the petition didn't mention author J.R.R. Tolkien and his works.
"We invite the organization to fly a flag for all who dare to dream, uniting the districts, strengthening the ties, and fortifying the bridges by lighting an LED fire atop this sanctuary city. In the process embracing a fun, artistic, and timely show of creativity that the whole city can enjoy - for one night only."
Hopefully, Boston Properties will give the Lord of the Rings fans what they want. If you want to see this happen, click the link above to sign the petition at Change.org.
The Lord of the Rings TV series is coming to Amazon.
