Temur Adventure Dominates Dreamhack Anaheim Magic: The Gathering Arena Open

This past weekend, Aaron "Littlebeep" Gertler won the Dreamhack Anaheim Magic: The Gathering Arena Open event with his Temur Adventure (a.k.a. Temur Clover) Standard deck, beating some of the game's best players.

Around 100 players partcicipated in the Anaheim tournament for a total prize pool of $100,000, and an invitation to the upcoming Ikoria Mythic Invitational. Hosted by Dreamhack, the Anaheim Open was the first of the first of four MTG Arena tournaments hosted by the digital esports festival, with Gertler winning a grand prize of $30,000 and a seat in the $750,000 prize pool Ikoria Mythic Invitational.

Gertler was ranked first in the Mythic ladder on MTG Arena, and his final opponent in the Dreamhack competition was Mani "Zapgaze" Davoudi, the 2nd ranked on the Mythic ladder.

Gertler's Temur Adventure deck used "Lucky Clover", "Edgewall Innkeeper", and a bunch of Adventure cards from Throne of Eldraine to gain a lot of value and card advantage. "Fae of Wishes // Granted" allowed Gertler to use his sideboard as a "toolbox" to get answers he need like "Chandra, Awakened Inferno", "Sorcerous Spyglass", "Storm's Wrath", and "Fling" to dominate the games. He also runs three copies of "Escape the Wilds" to gain more card advantage.

I actually recorded Aaron Gertler's Temur Adventure deck in our MTGRocks YouTube channel:

After winning the tournament, Gertler announced that he's giving half of his prize money ($15,000) to charity.

Congrats to Aaron Gertler for winning the Dreamhack Anaheim 2020 Arena Open!
