Stranger Things Star Millie Bobbie Brown Deletes Twitter Account After Homophobic Memes

Millie Bobbie Brown, best known for playing Eleven in Netflix's Stranger Things, deleted her Twitter account after some users posted memes that portray her as a violent and homophobic person.

The memes they shared typically shows photos and selfies of the 14-year-old star accompanied by homophobic and racist messages. It's unclear where the memes originated since Brown is an anti-bullying advocate and supporter of LGBTQ rights. At the MTV Movie and TV awards last year, she publicly displayed a GLAAD Together movement pin. According to Variety, the memes have been attributed to the LGBT community as an "inside joke" on Twitter.

News of the Stranger Things star deleting her Twitter account comes fresh on the heels of Star Wars actress Kelly Marie Tran deleting her Instagram account following months of harassment for her role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

The third season of Stranger Things is expected to premiere on Netflix later this year.
