Star Wars Actor John Boyega Reveals His Top 5 Anime Shows

John Boyega, best known for playing Finn in Star Wars Episodes VII to IX, is a huge fan of Japanese anime. Just in case you missed his AMA on Reddit last year, Crunchyroll has taken it to Twitter to remind us his Top 5 anime shows that he talked about on his AMA.

Crunchyroll shared a short video highlighting Boyega's Top 5 anime titles. Watch it below:

John Boyega's Top 5 anime shows are:

5) Attack on Titan
4) Naruto
3) Seven Deadly Sins
2) Hunter X Hunter
1) Bleach

Out of all these 5 anime, I'm only familiar with Attack on Titan, Naruto, and Bleach, and if I were to switch-up the ranking order, I would choose to put Naruto on top. Masashi Kishimoto's popular anime is clearly better than Tite Kubo's series but everyone is entitled to their opinion, and as Boyega said in his AMA last year, his rankings can always change depending on how he feels.

While promoting Star Wars: The Force Awakens back in 2015, he talked about his passion for Japanese pop culture during an interview with Rocket News 24. He said that he saw a lot of similarities between his character Finn and Naruto.

"He is a character that wants to lead and has a dream, but doesn't necessarily know how to go about it, and doesn't have the right skill set… I love [how Japanese entertainment can] capture an underdog story, and I root for underdogs," Boyega said.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set to release in theaters on December 20, 2019.
