Author Dmitry Glukhovsky have teamed up with roducers Michael De Luca and Stephen L'Heureux to work on a Metro 2033 film.

De Luca and L'Heureux will produce, and the project was presented to them by Eugene Efuni, who will also produce, Variety reports.

Metro 2033 is a post-apocalyptic science fiction novel set in Moscow Metro, where the last survivors hide after a global nuclear holocaust. It follows a man called Artyom, who has survived World War III by hiding in Moscow's metro system. The book also spawned two games: Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light

"My novel and I have been waiting for this to happen for the last 10 years,” said Glukhovsky. “I have previously been extremely careful about handing my ‘baby’ over to Hollywood producers for adaption for a feature film, but now I feel that it has landed in the right hands. De Luca and L’Heureux have a great vision for this project, and I feel it’s an honor to work with them.”
