No Magic: The Gathering Emergency Banning as Hogaak Continues To Dominate Modern Format

As Hogaak decks continue to dominate Magic: The Gathering's Modern format last weekend at Grand Prix Minneapolis, fans are wondering if Wizards of the Coast will ever ban "Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis" in Modern, but according to R&D's Aaron Forsythe, they're not emergency-banning any card right now, and he reminded fans that the next scheduled Ban & Restricted announcement will be on August 26. He recently shared the reminder on Twitter:

At the Grand Prix Minneapolis last weekend, five out of the eight Top 8 Modern decks were Hogaak-based.

Earlier this month, Magic lead designer Mark Rosewater admitted that their most recent mistake was a black/green hybrid, and I think we already know what that card is. Despite the banning of "Bridge From Below" last July, the graveyard-focused Hogaak decks are still taking the Modern meta by storm. As shown in the infographic from Mythic Championship IV Barcelona below, "Leyline of the Void" is the most played card at Mythic Championship IV and the #2 most played card is "Faithless Looting". These two cards are mostly played thanks to the overwhelming power level of Hogaak-based decks. Every other card in the snapshot from MCIV above is in the Hogaak deck almost exclusively.
