New Magic: The Gathering Hall of Fame Coming in 2021

Wizards of the Coast has announced that it's constructing a new Magic: The Gathering Hall of Fame for the 2021 season. In the new MTG esports update, WotC's Ben Drago and Bear Watson announced that the company has plans to add a new kind of MTG Hall of Fame, not just the one that encompasses competitive play.

"By this time in a normal year, we would be engaging in the annual discussion of who would be voted into the MagicHall of Fame. This, however, isn't a normal year. In addition to the challenges we all face daily, Magic Esports shifted in ways that don't provide the same analogues that our old systems did."

"So we're taking this year off from inductions to construct a new Hall of Fame, one that encompasses not just competitive play, but all of Magic—including its innovators, contributors, and longtime stewards."

It's good that they are constructing a Hall of Fame that honors not just the top competitive players but also MTG contributors and other individuals who made an impact in the Magic community. Hopefully, the new Hall of Fame will also honor MTG artists and content creators.
