The lore of Wizards of the Coast's popular trading card game Magic: The Gathering is getting an animated Netflix adaptation from the directors of Avengers: Endgame Joe and Anthony Russo, and fans can't wait to find out what the upcoming show is going to be like.  Now, we have more details about the upcoming series thanks to a recent interview with the show's executive producer.

The new animated series is being produced by the animation network and studio Octopie with writers Henry Gilroy (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and Jose Molina (The Tick). Now, Isaac Krauss, the show's executive producer and the CEO of Octopie, recently talked about their approach to adapting the beloved fantasy franchise during an interview with Comic Drake at RTX 2019. Although Krauss hasn't revealed any story details about the show, he shared some interesting insights about the show's animation style and how they're approaching the lore of the game.

When asked about the plot of the MTG series, Krauss said that the tone of the show's story is dark and that the writers have developed a character-based story for the series.

Krauss also talked about how the studio is leveraging 3D animation in a unique way for the show but noted that it's not going to be cel-shaded nor like a "Pixar kind of plastic-looking."

At the 8-minute mark, Krauss also noted that there's a possibility that Wizards of the Coast will potentially use artwork from the show in their products but nothing official has been announced yet.

When talking about the action scenes, Krauss revealed that they want to make sure the series has meaningful action payoffs with well-developed characters and story.
