Modified Magic: The Gathering Cards Supporting Trans Rights Allowed During Day 2 of Mythic Championship VI

At Day 2 of Magic: The Gathering's Mythic Championship VI today, Wizards of the Coast has changed its initial decision of prohibitingMagic Pro League member Autumn Burchett from playing basic lands that had been modified with messages expressing support of transgender rights.

WotC's decision to allegedly prohibit Burchett from using the modified lands during Day 1 of Mythic Championship VI clearly wasn't well-received by the MTG and LBGTQ+ communities. Following the waves of support for Burchett on Twitch, the Mythic Championship VI broadcast stream chat was changed to sub-only, but it seems that WotC has changed its mind, and according to Burchett, they let them use modified land cards as shown in the tweet below:

Burchett, who won Mythic Championship I earlier this year, changed the basic land cards they used for Saturday's matches. The land card from Friday had an illustration in conjunction with a large mana symbol, and they used different styled cards during Saturday's matches, making sure that the alternative-art text written on the cards is not blocking the land's name and mana symbol.

Burchett didn't make it to the Top 8 of Mythic Championship VI, but at least they were given the opportunity to voice their support for trans rights.

The Top 8 of the Mythic Championship VI will compete on Sunday at Richmond, Virginia.
