Insomniac Games' new Spider-Man game for PlayStation 4 has sold 3.3 million copies, becoming the fastest-selling first-party PlayStation game of all time.
The sales milestone for Marvel's new Spider-Man game was reported by USA Today. Assuming the copies were sold at the standard MSRP of $59.99, the 3.3 million copies grossed a total of about $198 million. However, the collector's edition of the game also received some sales.
"Our expectations are always set at the highest levels," said Sony Global Senior Vice President of Sales Stephen Turvey in a statement, praising the game for "bringing Spider-Man back to gaming in a way that you want to experience it."
"It's met and exceeded all expectations. I think the company and the campus, and our fans are super proud of it."
Spider-Man was released on September 7, and it was clear that it was going to be a huge success. One million copies of the game were preordered prior to its release, which is another record for Sony.
