Major Star Wars: The Force Awakens Spoilers Leaked as Mark Hamill Confirms Episode VIII Return

Disney and Lucasfilm have released a lot of TV spots and trailers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but I'm astonished at how the marketing department manages to shroud plot details and mysteries mostly about Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). We haven't seen him in publicity for the film, but Hamill has revealed that he's set to return in the film's sequel.

Hamill posted on Twitter, confirming that he will be back as the Jedi Knight for Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is being directed by Looper's Rian Johnson, and it scheduled to be released in May 2017. Hamill's Tweet centered on his beard, which the actor revealed he is contractually obliged to sport for the Star Wars films. He suggested he was free to grow it out again after finishing work on the superhero TV show The Flash, in which Hamill plays The Trickster.

The Jedi Knight's appearance and whereabouts in The Force Awakens have been a subject of major speculation, as he has never appeared on screen in any of the trailers and posters. While fans considered the post as proof that Luke survives the events of The Force Awakens, others pointed out that he might return as a "Force ghost"

Although there are several theories about Luke's story in The Force Awakens, and that we know that the film will ask "Who is Luke Skywalker?", the following major spoilers from Makingstarwars.net doesn't reveal anything about his character, but they include the identity of Max Von Sydow and a large chunk of the plot. The information has reportedly been found from a Star Wars "Look and Find" children's book which is set to be published next month.

Warning: Major possible spoilers ahead. This is coming from a site with a good track record for leaking spoilers that have already been confirmed.

Von Sydow's character's name is revealed to be Lor San Tekka, rumored to be a man who possess information vital in the quest to find the missing Luke Skywalker. X-Wing Pilot Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) meets him on the desert planet of Jakku, but they are interrupted by the evil First Order. A message is placed inside Dameron's droid, BB-8 and he is sent off into the night.

Maz Kanata, a CGI character played by Lupita Nyong'o, is some kind of mentor to Han Solo (Harrison Ford). With John Boyega's Finn and Daisy Ridley's Rey, Han travels to her castle on Takodana, a dangerous place filled with a mix of space ruffians and rugamuffins, in hopes that she can help with his mission to return BB-8 to the Resistance.

The First Order group, led by Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), attack the castle after finding out that Solo and his friends are there, but X-Wing fighters sent by Resistance leader General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) save the day. Sadly, Rey and BB-8 are captured by Kylo Ren.

So there you have it. That's a huge chunk of exciting plot to look forward to. I could almost trace the story based on these details and the trailer footage, but I know that there's a lot more mysteries that we can't wait to find out.
