Magic: The Gathering is Adding 25 'New' Historic Cards With Secret Lair Tie-In

The non-rotating Historic format in Magic: The Gathering Arena, which uses older, non-Standard cards, is expanding in March, and for the first time ever, there will be a Secret Lair tie-in that comes with release of the new MTG Arena cards.

Destructoid has revealed Historic Anthology II, which includes 25 "new" cards coming to MTG Arena on March 12, and you can get all of them for 25,000 gold (in-game currency) or 4,000 gems (premium currency). You can also craft them with Wildcards, and the cards will be available in the following formats: Traditional Ranked (best-of-three), Ranked (best-of-one) and "other special Historic events," like Historic Brawl.

The new Thalia Secret Lair will be available for 24 hours, and will go live on the official Secret Lair website on March 12, 2020 at 9AM PT for $29.99. It features four copies of "Thalia, Guardian of Thraben", each with unique art illustrated by Magali Villeneuve and Johannes Voss. This Secret Lair was previously leaked yesterday, but it didn't take long for it to be officially revealed.

The Historic Ranked queue will return (as well as a best-of-one ranked queue), and you can buy the two anthologies for gems and gold: 20,000 gold and 3,400 gems for Historic Anthology 1; 25,000 gold or 4,000 gems for Historic Anthology 2.

Wizards will be talking more about the Historic Anthology II in their State of the Game blog series.
