Magic: The Gathering Reveals The Third Planeswalker From Theros Beyond Death

As Magic: The Gathering head designer Mark Rosewater confirmed last week, there's a third planeswalker card in Theros Beyond Death in addition to Elspeth and Ashiok, and he's a new character.

Today, Wizards of the Coast has revealed the new planeswalker, and the card is called "Calix, Destiny's Hand", a four-to-cast green/white planeswalker that can help you find an enchantment from your library with its +1 ability. You can also exile a creature or enchantment you don't control as long as the enchantment you control is in the battlefield. Its ultimate is also enchantment-focused as it can return all enchantment cards from your graveyard to play.

This planeswalker mostly likely won't see a lot of play in competitive Standard unless there's a viable enchantment-heavy deck that could dominate the format's metagame. It can't protect itself, and you need to have a good amount of enchantments to make all of its abilities work.

Theros Beyond Death, the 83rd Magic: The Gathering expansion, is set to release on January 24, 2020. Prerelease events will take place on January 17-19.
