Magic: The Gathering R&D Director Answers If Mystery Boosters are Pioneer Masters or Not


Earlier this month, Wizards of the Coast announced that a new Magic: The Gathering "Mystery Booster" will be revealed at MagicFest Richmond in November 8-10, and since the new Pioneer format was announced earlier this week, fans are speculating the mysterious product to be related to the new format with some people guessing that it's Pioneer Masters, and now we finally get an answer from Wizards of the Coast.

During a livestream interview at Twitch.tv/Magic,MTG R&D director Aaron Forsythe was asked if "Mystery Booster" is Pioneer Masters, and Forsythe answered, "Pioneer conversations and Mystery Booster design were ships passing in the night. They've nothing to do with each other. Great theory. Sad we couldn't you know reward your sleuthing with something more satisfying than that, but no."

Now that we know that the Mystery Booster has nothing to do with Pioneer, what do you think it could be?
