Magic: The Gathering Designer Confirms New Planeswalker in Theros Beyond Death


Ashiok and Elspeth are not the only planeswalkers featured in the new Magic: The Gathering set Theros Beyond Death.

Today, Magic head designer Mark Rosewater has confirmed that there are three planeswalkers featured in Theros Beyond Death. He shared the information on his Blogatog, saying that the third planeswalker is someone new, and it's not Amintou.

Although Wizards of the Coast hasn't officially revealed the new planeswalker yet, some fans have already pointed out the clues from the datamined content from Magic: The Gathering Arena, which reportedly revealed that the new planeswalkers is a male red/green oracle of Klothys, and according to a Redditor, he's "weedy sounding" and "antagonistic towards Elspeth." This is probably the art for the new planeswalker:

With many official previews scheduled in the next two weeks, expect WotC to reveal the new planeswalker soon.

Theros Beyond Death, the 83rd Magic: The Gathering expansion, is set to release on January 24, 2020. Prerelease events will take place on January 17-19.
