Nearly one year ago, Magic: The Gathering Arena entered open beta, and on September 26, the free-to-play digital card game will officially launch, and to celebrate the moment, the developer and Wizards of the Coast is giving players access to hundreds of Standard-legal cards to play for a limited time. On October 6, players will be able to compete for the chance to win all those cards to their in-game collections permenently.
The news comes from the latest MTG Arena State of the Beta, which announced that during Arena's launch weekend, Wizards will give players access to four copies of ever card legal in Standard, so that includes all the cards from Guilds of Ravnica, Ravnica Allegiance, War of the Spark, Core Set 2020, and the forthcoming Throne of Eldraine. Cards are only available for 12 games in the event. Since the Standard format is also rotating with the release of Throne of Eldraine, this event won't include the sets that won't be Standard-legal after rotation: Ixalan, Rivals of Ixalan, Dominaria, and Core set 2019.
On October 6, Magic Arena will have an event in which players can try to win 12 games of Magic in order to win one copy of every Standard-legal card that will be permanently added to their digital collection. Each player has to win 12 games without losing twice, and they only have one shot to win the event's ultimate prize. Participants will get a rare card from Throne of Eldraine.
This is a great start for Magic Arena players to test out the newly-rotated Standard format with Throne of Eldraine cards, and be sure to check out our YouTube channel for our upcoming Standard videos.
