Magic: The Gathering Arena Will Get A New Friends List Feature This Month

Magic: The Gathering Arena is getting a major update this month with the release of the 20 new cards for the non-rotating Historic format, and as Wizards of the Coast promised last September, it's also getting a Friends List feature.

Wizards of the Coast recently announced that the November 21 update will include the new Friends List funcitonality they're labeling as "social features 1.0" because this is just the first feature in the social suite they're planning to add in the free-to-play game. With the new update, you will be able to add other players to your Friends List (and remove/or block them, if you wish). You'll be to see if your friends are online and challenge them to Direct Challenge matches through the Friends List interface.

The next social features they are planning to add is the ability to directly message your friends in the client, and the ability to share decks when playing Direct Challenge matches. This should be a great feature that will help players practice various strategies with people they know before a big tournament.

Here are the other features they're developing fo:

Historic Anthology 1 and the Friends List will be included in the November 21 update alongside bug fixes.
