Magic: The Gathering Arena Friends List & Friends Messaging Are Coming

Magic: The Gathering Arena players is set to officially launch on September 26 with the release of the new set Throne of Eldraine on the digital client, and as part of today's State of the Beta announcement, the developer and Wizards of the Coast have revealed the features they're currently developing for the free-to-play digital card game.

Right now, Magic Arena doesn't have a Friends List feature but you can challenge friends by typing their username (and number) and each player must select the same match settings to connect and play against each other but there's currently no feature to show which of your Magic Arena friends are online. New Friends List feature will provide an easier way to challenge friends to games and see who's online.

Wizards also announced that the developers are also working on a feature to give players the ability to message their friends in-game between matches.

They're also developing a feature for friends to share decks during Direct Challenge matches.

According to Wizards, they're planning to launch the Friends List feature on October along with Controcted Brawl but expect the Friends Messaging feature and deck sharing feature to be released at a later time.

In addition to the social features, Wizards restated that they're working on making Arena compatible for macOS. This was confirmed last month along with the announcement that Arena will be available on the Epic Games store.

Throne of Eldraine, the 82nd Magic expansion, is set to release on October 4. Prerelease events will take place on September 27 to 29.
