Wizards of the Coast and other members of the Magic: The Gathering community have revealed new Throne of Eldraine cards today, including "The Royal Scions", the new Planeswalker card that represents Will and Rowan Kenrith. Last week, Magic head designer Mark Rosewater restated his comments about the number of Planeswalker cards in the set, confirming that Will and Kenrith, the twin planeswalkers who share a spark, will be featured in the same Throne of Eldraine card.
Check out "The Royal Scions":
The Royal Scions
|Legendary Planeswalker - Will Rowan|
|[+1]: Draw a card, then discard a card.
[+1}: Target creature gets +2/+0 and gains first strike and trample until end of turn.
[-8]: Draw four cards. When you do, The Royal Scions deals damage to any target equal to the number of cards in your hand.
This three-mana Planeswalker card with high loyalty when it comes to play looks playable in competitive Standard format. The abilities look versatile and can fit in almost any blue/red shell whether it's control or aggro. Sadly, "The Royal Scions" can't protect itself so I'm not sure if this will be great in Standard.
There are also other fairy tale-themed cards revealed today, including several cards that are certainly inspired by Cinderella. There's also a "Once Upon a Time" card that looks playable and other Knight creatures that players will probably use in Standard tribal decks.
