MTG Head Designer Responds to Negative Feedback That The Mythic Edition Planeswalkers Are Receiving

Wizards of the Coast

Wizards of the Coast is experimenting with something new in Guilds of Ravnica: Mythic Edition Planeswalkers only available in special booster boxes that you can only buy if you're in the US and Canada through the Hasbro Toy Shop. You can check out the HD images of the cards here. It looks like a lot of fans online have expressed their disdain for the new product, and now, Magic: The Gathering Head Designer Mark Rosewater has shared his thoughts.

When a fan asked Rosewater if he's just going to ignore the negative feedback the Mythic Edition Planeswalkers are receiving, he replied on his Blogatog:

Getting negativity from announcing something different from how we've done something in the past is the norm on social media.
I hear that there are people upset and, as always, I pass along the information to the people that need to hear about it.
The real test about any new thing is seeing how people respond to it when they are able to take action. If it's a new product, do people buy it? (And yes, I've heard the strong concern about the Hasbro site not shipping to many countries and that too has been passed along). Trust me, if no one buys a new thing, I guarantee we'll stop doing it.

I'm just going to echo the same complaints the Professor of Tolarian Community College made in his new video. The fact that it won't be available in countries outside the United States and Canada is ridiculous. It would probably be an exciting draft experience and the artworks of the Mythic Edition Planeswalkers look great but I'd rather see them as Masterpieces that players can get in a regular Guilds of Ravnica booster pack.
