MTG Guilds of Ravnica: Vraska, Regal Gorgon Revealed

Wizards of the Coast

The promotional artwork for the upcoming Magic: The Gathering set Guilds of Ravnica features Vraska so we know that the murderous gorgon Planeswalker will return in the City of Guilds. Now, Vraska, Regal Gorgon from Guilds of Ravnica has been revealed, and it's from one of the set's Planeswalker Deck.

SyFy has shared our first look at the new Vraska card as well as two other cards you can only get from the Planeswalker Deck so don't expect to get one of these cards in a Guilds of Ravnica booster pack.

First of all, check out this fantastic artwork by Magali Villeneuve:

As expected from a preconstructed Planeswalker Deck, this Vraska, Regal Gorgon is weak compared to Planeswalker cards you'd find in booster packs. I'd still use this card in Brawl though but I wouldn't make it my Commander. Its ultimate could be a game-ender if you have a bunch of creatures on the field and in the graveyard but its first two abilities are underwhelming.

The talented Magali Villeneuve also illustrated the artwork for Attendant of Vraska. Check it out:

This could be a nice sideboard against red decks assuming that the non-Planeswalker Deck Vraska in Guilds of Ravnica is playable but relying on having a Planeswalker card to trigger an effect is not that good.

That's a 6-mana removal that could tutor for Vraska, Regal Gorgon. It would be more playable in Standard if it can tutor any Vraska Planeswalker card but Planeswalker Decks are aimed for new players.

What do you think about these Guilds of Ravnica Planeswalker Deck cards?

Guilds of Ravnica will feature five guilds: Selesnya (green-white), Boros (red-white), Golgari (black-green), Izzet (blue-red), and Dimir (blue-black)

The following set, Ravnica Allegiance will feature the other five guilds: Azorius (blue-white), Rakdos (black-red), Gruul (red-green), Simic (green-blue), and Orzhov (black-white).

Guilds of Ravnica will be released on October 5. Prerelease events will take place on September 29-30.
