MTG Arena Will Unlock Brawler’s Guildhall & Theros Beyond Death Ranked Draft to Make Social Distancing Easier

Wizards of the Coast recently posted a Magic: The Gathering Arenaupdate to the March's event schedule late on Tuesday, announcing what measures they're doing to make social distancing easier during the COVID-19/Coronavirus pandemic. MTG Arena's Brawler's Guildhall will be free to the next four weeks, and Theros Beyond Death Ranked Draft will be available once again.

"Because COVID-19 is keeping millions of people around the world indoors, we wanted to do a little something to help make social distancing a little more tolerable," WotC said. "To that end, we are making changes to the Magic: The Gathering Arena event schedule beginning on Thursday, March 19 to give you more ways to play Magic from the comfort and safety of your home."

Starting on 8 am PT on Thursday, March 18, players will be able to join:

> A persistent Brawl playmode called the Brawler's Guildhall. Usually this costs 10,000 gold or 2,000 gems, but will be free until April 16.
> Ranked draft for Theros: Beyond Death. It was announced earlier this year that, unlike previous sets, THB would be removed as a ranked draft option with other sets rotating in. As stated, the new set would be a ranked draft option in early April, but will now be persistently available, again until April 16.

Fans should be excited for these changes. Currently, the Brawl format is only free on Wednesdays, and players must have purchased Brawler's Guildhall entry to use the matchmaker in any other day. Making this option free for everyone will likely get more players to play this fun Constructed singleton format that uses only Standard-legal cards.

The move to bring back

Theros Beyond Death

Ranked Draft is exciting for many players. The set has been praised for a well-balanced and incredibly fun limited format. You can watch one of my

draft videos below:

I'll definitely be playing both Brawl and THB draft this week. Both are fun to play in Arena. The changes will definitely make social distancing easier for MTG Arena players.
