Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths New Cycle of Triome Magic: The Gathering Lands Revealed

During the stream on Twitch.tv/magic last week, Magic: The Gathering lead designer Mark Rosewater confirmed that the upcoming set, Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths will feature a cycle of five new nonbasic lands, and today Wizards of the Coast has finally revealed the five Triomes that each produce three mana colors.

The cycle of rare lands includes "Raugrin Triome", "Zagoth Triome", "Savai Triome", "Ketria Triome", and "Idantha Triome".

Each land comes into play tapped, but unlike the tri-colored lands from the Shards of Alara set, each of these Ikoria lands can be cycled for 3 generic mana, so if you draw this card in the late game, and you rather get a nonland card, you can just cycle it away. As you probably know by now, Ikoria is a monster set that features wedge-colored cards, but unlike Shards of Alara of Khans of Tarkir, this set doesn't focus on tri-colored factions. Nonetheless, with the abundance of powerful multi-colored cards in this set, players will most likely use these triomes in Standard format. It could even see play in eternal formats like Commander and Pioneer thanks to their ability to produce three types of mana, and cycling.

Let's take a closer look at the stunning new art of the triomes
