Wizards of the Coast and various members of the Magic: The Gathering community have been recently revealing new MTG cards coming for the upcoming expansion, Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths, and today, we get to see some of the most powerful cards from the set, including the two ultimatum spells, and the new Planeswalker card, "Narset of the Ancient Way".

It looks like the set will feature a cycle of powerful ultimatum spells, and each "wedge" three-colored combination will have its own ultimatum. Today, the Mardu-colored (Red/White/Black) ultimatum spell has been revealed, and it's called "Ruinous Ultimatum". Check it out:

For a seven mana-cost Sorcery, it's an expensive spell to play, even costing one more than "Planar Cleansing", but the payoff is an ultimate one-sided boardwipe that destroys all non-land permanents your opponent controls, so that means creatures, planeswalkers, artifacts, enchantments, and even tokens are gone, except yours, of course. The card's flavor text even gives us a nice look at Ikoria's story. It looks like General Kudro, the leader of Drannith's military defense known as the Coppercoats, is portrayed as a ruthless villain who believes that all monsters should be destroyed. You can find out more about Ikoria's story in our previous article, and in Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths - Sundered Bond, the new MTG ebook by Django Wexler.

In addition to the new ultimatum card, two hybrid-mana rare cards with the Companion ability have been revealed: "Zirda, the Dawnwaker" and "Kaheera, the Orphanguard":
