IT Chapter 2 First Reactions Say That It's A Huge Disappointment

IT: Chapter 2 is one of the most anticipated films this year, and it's finally hitting theaters next month. Several members of the press were able to attend early screenings of Andy Muschietti's horror film based on Stephen King's 1986 classic novel.

Many are saying that the sequel doesn't quite live up to the high standards of the first movie, but it still offers a lot of scary moments and the casting did a brilliant job, especially Bill Hader, who plays the adult Ritchie. Several critics also said that IT: Chapter 2's pacing is one of the sequel's weaknesses but Latinx TV/Film critic Yolanda Machado said that the slow pacing allows the story of the characters to grow.

According to Collider's Perri Nemiroff, the sequel is not "as refined as the first,...it's still an excellent ensemble piece, oozing with heart & packed with extremely well-crafted set pieces."

The film stars James McAvoy as Bill, Jessica Chastain as Beverly, Jay Ryan as Ben, Bill Hader as Richie, James Ransone as Eddie, Andy Bean as Stanley Uris, and Isaiah Mustafa as Mike. Bill Skarsgard plays Pennywise The Clown.

IT: Chapter 2 is set to release in theaters on September 6, 2019.
