Here's When The New Magic: The Gathering Set Will Be Announced

The new Magic: The Gathering expansions Zendikar Rising is almost here, but Wizards of the Coast hasn't announced anything about the 2021 Standard-legal MTG sets yet. However, it looks like Wizards will make a major announcement about the new sets on Tuesday.

When Magic head designer Mark Rosewater was asked when WotC will announce new MTG sets, he said: "When that question was asked today on the stream, Blake said, 'Check back on Tuesday.'"

Rosewater was referring to WotC's Blake Rasmussen's response on Thursday's DailyMTG stream on Twitch.tv/magic. Last year, we learned about the 2020 MTG sets during a panel at Comic-Con but it seems they're pushing it a bit later this year, so there might be a reason why they're revealing it at the same week as the Zendikar Rising preview season. Will there be another expansion set in the world of Zendikar after Zendikar Rising? We still don't know if they will announce all the 2021 sets or just the set after Zendikar Rising.

Wizards will be revealing a lot of new information next week starting with Zendikar Rising details and official previews on Monday. We'll keep you posted here on Epicstream.com once the announcement is made on Tuesday.

Are you excited for the new MTG set announcement on Tuesday? What planes would you like to see a set return to? Or would you rather have a set featuring a new plane? Let us know in the comments section below.

Zendikar Rising is set to release on September 25, 2020; it will release on MTG Arena on Sept. 17.
