The hopes of fans who thought that Han Solo miraculously survived a lightsaber to the abdomen and fall into an abyss appear to have been crushed by today's production update.
Starwars.com announced that Episode VIII has begun filming, and it's "welcoming back cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis"
This clears up the confusion that came up when producer Kathleen Kennedy said that all actors on the stage behind her would be returning for the sequel to The Force Awakens, with Ford front and center. It was speculated that we would see a flashback scene with Han Solo, but it looks like we'll never see the continuation of that part when Han was about to tell Maz Kanata about Rey's true identity.
Star Wars; Episode VIII will be released in theaters on Dec. 15, 2017. Watch the new production video with Luke Skywalker here.
