Game of Thrones Fans Spotted Something Creepy in Season 7 Episode

You might have missed a creepy ghost in the fourth episode of Game of Thrones Season 7, and I'm not talking about Jon Snow's direwolf.

During the sparring session between Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) and Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), the ghost appears behind Arya. The moment happens when Arya reminds Brienne about her vow to Catelyn.

"You swore to serve both my mother's daughters," Arya told Brienne.

Redditor GreensGal points out, at the word "mother," you can spot "a woman in a long green dress with long auburn wavy hair with her head down walking past the background gate, resembling Cat".

In George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels, Catelyn Stark is resurrected but in a zombified state and goes by the name of Lady Stoneheart. She wants revenge on the Freys for the Red Wedding, a role Arya has pretty much filled in Season 7.

Since Lady Stoneheart is not in the show, many believe that the character in the background could be a nod to Lady Stoneheart. After all, Stoneheart plays an important role in Brienne's story in the books.

It's probably an Easter Egg for those who were disappointed at Lady Stoneheart's absence. Martin admitted before that he was disappointed that Stoneheart was written off from the HBO series.

"That was probably the first major diversion of the show from the books and, you know, I argued against that, and David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] made that decision," Martin told Time.

Redditor microchive pointed out that the character seems to appear again, behind Arya.

Do you think it's just a coincidence or it's an interntional nod to Lady Stoneheart?

Game of Thrones is set to air on HBO 9 p.m. EST.
