Elspeth is Back in The New Magic: The Gathering Theros: Beyond Death Promo

Earlier this month, Wizards of the Coast revealed the name of the four Magic: The Gathering sets coming next year, and the first one is called Theros: Beyond Death. Fans have been speculating that Elspeth, the white-centric warrior planeswalker, will be resurrected in the upcoming MTG expansion. Now, we have proof that she will return in Theros: Beyond Death thanks to a photo of the recent promo for the set.

The new promotional image for Theros: Beyond Death features Elspeth holding a golden mask. And below Elspeth, you'll see Chinese characters and the website "TherosBeyondDeath.com" but typing that URL currently leads to nowhere.

Theros: Beyond Death will feature the Underworld of Theros so it's likely that the set's story will see the quest to bring back Elseth from the dead. In the Journey into Nyx story, Elspeth died after Heliod, the God of the Sun of Theros, fatally wounded her with his weapon.

Maybe Gideon will return from the dead as well but it's exciting to know that Elspeth will finally return in Theros: Beyond Death. We still don't know much about the forthcoming expansion but we do know that not all the gods of Theros will be featured in the MTG set.

Theros: Beyond Death, the 83rd Magic: The Gathering expansion, is set to release in the first quarter of 2020.
