Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most highly-anticipated games set to release next year but fans might have to wait a little longer before they can get their hands on CD Projekt Red's RPG. Recently, the developer addmitted that it's under pressure to meet the close deadline for the game's launch. Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release on April 16 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia but during a recent interview with Gamespot, CD Projekt Red's John Mamais explained that meeting the April 2020 launch date is going to difficult.
"Everyone is working really hard right now because it’s a tight deadline for us; the game is really big and large-scope," Mamais said "We’re pushing it to the wall.
"I guess the vibe in the office is there’s always a level of excitement there based on results that we get from going to conferences like this [PAX Australia] and seeing people really excited about the game," Mamais said. "So that keeps the hype up but it also puts some pressure on, so that’s kind of the vibe. You’re in a vice, in a way, which takes its toll on the team but there is… a healthy, extrinsic kind of pressure to make [the team] really excel."
Mamais admits that some people in CD Projekt Red are scared of the April 2020 launch. "A lot of people do [feel good about the April 2020 date and] some people are scared about the date," Mamais added. "It's a normal kind of mixture of feeling about that date in the studio. That's the directive; we need to keep that date."
The official release date for Cyberpunk 2077 was announced during the E3 conference.
While I'm excited for Cyberpunk 2077's release, I would rather see them delay and develop the game to its full potential instead of seeing a rushed product completed on their target launch.
Here's a description of the Cyberpunk 2077 game:
"Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification. You play as V, a mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality. You can customize your character’s cyberware, skillset and playstyle, and explore a vast city where the choices you make shape the story and the world around you."
Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 16, 2020.
