Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated games scheduled to release this year, but fans who are looking forward to play the game in its original April release date will have to wait longer.

Polish developer CD Projekt Red has announced on Thursday that the release date for Cyberpunk 2077 will be pushed from April 16 to September 17, 2020.

The update on the game's release date was announced by the developer on social media. CD Projekt Red's Marcin Iwinski and Adam Badowski shared a joint statement about the delay.

"We are currently at a stage where the game is complete and playable, but there's still work to be done," CD Projekt Red said in a statement. "Night City is massive – full of stories, content, and places to visit, but due to the sheer scale and complexity of it all, we need more time to finish playtesting, fixing and polishing. We want Cyberpunk 2077 to be our crowning achievement for this generation and postponing launch will give us the previous months we need to make the game perfect."

Synopsis:

"Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification. You play as V, a mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality. You can customize your character's cyberware, skillset and playstyle, and explore a vast city where the choices you make shape the story and the world around you."

Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 17, 2020.
