Cyberpunk 2077 Map Revealed and It Looks Quite Small

Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to be the biggest game coming in 2020, and although it's set to release in April 2020, relatively little from the game has been shown in public so far, so it's hard to determine how big the game is even though CD Projekt Red already told fans that the map is smaller than The Witcher 3, and the overall game is shorter.

The images below comes from the deluxe edition of Cyberpunk 2077 on Amazon and, as you can see, it looks surprisingly small in terms of city footprint.

Fans shouldn't be worried though because unlike The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 has huge skyscrapers and many of the buildings can be entered, making Night City denser than Witcher 3's huge map.

CD Projekt Red producer Richard Borzymonwski talked to Gamesradar about it at Gamescom last April.

"If you look at pure surface [in terms of] square kilometers, then Cyberpunk 2077 might even be a little bit smaller than The Witcher 3, but it's the density of the content, taking the world of The Witcher and squeezing it right in, deleting the wilderness between," Borzymonwski said. "Obviously [...] in The Witcher we were an open world with vast lanes and forests in between smaller cities and larger cities like Novigrad, but in Cyberpunk 2077 we're set in Night City. It's an integral part of the setting; it's essentially a protagonist if you want to call it that, so it has to be denser. It wouldn't give us the end effect we wanted to achieve if the city wouldn't be believable [...] so we packed it full of life."

Here's a description of the Cyberpunk 2077 game:

"Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification. You play as V, a mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality. You can customize your character's cyberware, skillset and playstyle, and explore a vast city where the choices you make shape the story and the world around you."

Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 16, 2020.
