Cyberpunk 2077 Expected to Sell 20 Million Units, According to Analyst

Cyberpunk 2077, one of the most highly-anticipated games coming next year, is expected to sell a bunch of copies in its first year of availability, and sales may exceed CD Projekt Red's previous game.

According to Bloomberg analyst Matthew Kanterman, Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to sell 20 million copies within 2020. It took their previous game, The Witcher 3, four years to reach that amount, but the franchise as a whole is viewed as a niche entry in the role-playing game market. With Cyberpunk 2077 featuring first-person-shooter mechanics, it's likely to appeal to a larger audience.

The big E3 2019 trailer reveal with Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077 also added so much hype for the game, so it's not surprising that the analyst predicted that amount. CD Projekt Red's great reputation with The Witcher series also gives consumers confidence for their highly-anticipated RPG.

Here's a description of the Cyberpunk 2077 game:

"Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification. You play as V, a mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality. You can customize your character's cyberware, skillset and playstyle, and explore a vast city where the choices you make shape the story and the world around you."

Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 16, 2020.
