Black Mirror Season 4: New Key Art & Details For Star Trek-Themed Episode 'USS Callister'

So far, Netflix has already released trailers for five out of the six episodes from Black Mirror Season 4, but they haven't released one for the Star Trek-themed episode, USS Callister.

The 74-minute episode stars former Fargo stars Cristin Melioti and Jesse Plemons, with Michaela Coel (Chewing Gum) and Jimmi Simpson (Westworld). The episode is directed by Sherlock and Doctor Who alum Toby Haynes and co-written by William Bridges.

With its fleet uniforms, it's obvious that the episode pays homage to Star Trek, but showrunner Charlie Brooker told The Hollywood Reporter that its core is about "tyranny and abuse of power."

Producer Annabel Jones recently described USS Callister during an interview with The Independent.

"‘USS Callister' is a space opera. The challenges of trying to create that world, and obviously getting to play with the genre, opened a whole new opportunity," Jones said "But I think we've put a clever spin on it. It's a romp – it's big and ambitious with lots of CG. It's an absolute visual feast and really high octane. There are obviously more unsettling, poignant and slightly more melancholic moments, but at the same time, it is a romp. It's such a treat for a filmmaker to be making a film this epic."

Black Mirror Season 4 doesn't have an official release date yet but it's expected to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2017.
