4 Upcoming Magic: The Gathering Sets of 2020 Revealed


Throne of Eldraine previews and the awesome new trailer are not the only new Magic: The Gathering details we're getting this week. The names of the upcoming Magic sets have also been revealed.

During the Throne of Eldraine special viewing event at Twitch.tv/magic, Wizards of the Coast has also revealed the four upcoming MTG expansions coming next year, and it looks like we will be returning to two familiar planes.

The four upcoming Magic sets that will be released in 2020 are:

> Theros: Beyond Death
> Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths
> Core Set 2021
> Zendikar Rising

So fans are returning to the Greek mythology-inspired plane Theros, and the land-themed Zendikar next year. Ikoria must be a new plane, and maybe it's also somehow connected to Theros. The new Theros set will probably explore the underworld and other afterlife worlds. Ikoria is said to also feature a new create-a-monster mechanic, probably similar to the Host/Augment mechanic we've seen in the Unstable set.

The Core Set 2021 set symbol looks cool,

Throne of Eldraine, the 82nd Magic expansion, is set to release on October 4. Prerelease events will take place on September 27 to 29.
