3 Magic: The Gathering Planeswalkers Confirmed For Throne of Eldraine, More Details Revealed

When Wizards of the Coast revealed the upcoming Magic set Throne of Eldraine at the San Diego Comic-Con panel last weekend, Magic: The Gathering head designer Mark Rosewater revealed that Rowan Kenrith, a planeswalker introduced in last year's Two-Headed Giant-focused set, will return in Throne of Eldraine. He also revealed that Rowan's home plane is Eldraine, the world where the expansion's lore takes place.

Rowan's twin brother Will Kenrith will also return in Throne of Eldraine, and according to Rosewater, the twin planeswalkers were originally created for the upcoming set.

"They were first created for Throne of Eldraine," Rosewater revealed on his Blogatog. "Then Battlebond was looking for planeswalkers with partner and we were like, "we have twin planeswalkers." When a fan asked if Will is still a planeswalker, Rosewater gave a clear answer: "Will is still a planeswalker. He hasn't gotten demoted or anything."

Rosewater also confirmed that there are three planeswalkers in Throne of Eldraine and that the third planeswalker is a brand new character.

Could the third planeswalker be the character depicted in Ryan Pancoast's stunning artwork for Throne of Eldraine?

I'm just glad to know that Throne of Eldraine is shifting away the focus from the members of the Gatewatch to other planeswalkers.

Throne of Eldraine is set to release on October 4. Prerelease will be held on September 28-29.
