Six Chris Rahn Magic: The Gathering Zendikar Rising Originals Sold For Over $37,000

In September 2020, artist Chris Rahn sold six recently debuted original art pieces from Magic: The Gathering's newest expansion Zendikar Rising, totaling $37,050.96. The works included three final paintings and three pencil sketches, depicting two legendary creatures and a full-art basic land from the set. 

 

Rahn sold each work individually on eBay, and the first one, Omnath, Locus of Creation, was sold in the beginning of September. The Omnath piece is a work of oil on cracled board measuring 18 x 24 inches. The starting bid for the auction was $699.99, and after 30 bids in the seven-day auction, it sold for a final price of $11,700 on September 9. 

 

Tazri, Beacon of Unity, a work of oil on cradled board, sized 18 x 24 inches also launched the auction with a $699.99 bid, and it was sold for $15,525.96. 

 

Rahl sold his full-art basic Plains was also a work of oil with the same size, and after 40 bids in the 7-day sale, it was sold for $7,900. 

 

Rahl also offered his accompanying pencil sketches to the open market. Rahl sold a sketch for each of these works on eBay.

Omnath, Locus of Creation sold on Sept. 20, 2020 for $870.00

Tazri, Beacon of Unity sketch was sold for $510.00. 

 

The full-art Plains sold for $645.00.
