Jeweled Lotus Magic: The Gathering Card Price Significantly Drops After Commander Legends Release

Wizards of the Coast finally released Commander Legends last week. The first-ever Commander Magic: The Gathering set designed for Booster Draft features 71 legendary creatures and planeswalkers as well as brand new staples for the fan-favorite format, and the most controversial card from the set is Jeweled Lotus. Despite the hype and its $150 preorder price, Jeweled Lotus' price has significantly dropped since it was made available for preorder.

Ever since Jeweled Lotus was officially revealed, Commander players and Magic collectors have been talking about the 0-to-cast artifact that can produce three mana of any color that you can only use to cast your Commander when you sacrifice it. The card is clearly similar to the most expensive Magic card ever printed, Black Lotus, and some players even said that it was too powerful in the Commander format. Many buyers preordered the card for $150, and now it's worth about a third of that, and still seeing its price decline.

According to TCGPlayer, the current price for a non-foil Jeweled Lotus is $59, and the foil version is currently valued at $73. The Professor of Tolarian Community College also tweeted about the price drop, saying that he feels bad for those who preordered it at $150.

While many MTG collectors expected the price of Jeweled Lotus to drop eventually, it's still surprising that it dropped below $100 in the first week since the release of Commander Legends.

Commander Legends is now available.
