Iron Fist Season 2 Might Introduce Daredevil's Protege

The second season of Iron Fist seems to be going through Daredevil's list of villains and allies. The upcoming season is already bringing in Star Trek: Into Darkness actress Alice Eve as Typhoid Mary. Now, it looks like the Netflix series will introduce Matt Murdock's protege.

Comic book writer Charles Soule has just tweeted about a recent Iron Fist Season 2 casting. Soule pointed out that an actor named James Chen has been cast as Sam Chung in the Marvel show. Daredevil fans will immediately recognize that this new character could be Soule's creation Blindspot.

In the comic books, Samuel Chung is an illegal immigrant from China who becomes associated with Daredevil. Although he does not possess any special powers, Chung creates a special suit that makes him invisible. With Daredevil's help, he becomes the vigilante called Blindspot.

So does this mean Iron Fist Season 2 will feature Daredevil's sidekick? Soule himself is not yet sure about the character since he hasn't been contacted by Marvel or Netflix.

"I don't know anything about his role, whether he is or will be Blindspot, etc., but I mostly hope they keep his background from the comics. We'll see! Fantastic either way," he wrote.

Blindspot could turn out to be a fitting ally for Danny Rand. It would be interesting to see if Sam will get his introduction in the series before showing up in Daredevil Season 3.

Iron Fist Season 2 will air on Netflix on September 7. Daredevil Season 3 is expected to premiere before the end of 2018.
