The Atom is officially coming to Injustice 2 as part of the third DLC pack. In an interesting move, a teaser video for the character was released before the introduction video of Hellboy, the final character for the second DLC pack. Still, it's good seeing the character in action and it allowed the developers in NetherRealm to be very creative.
Atom being in the game isn't a huge surprise since his silhouette was pretty obvious. What is a surprise is how he fights. Just like in the comics, Atom shrinks and grows while he fights and it is amazing to see. Check out the video below and be astonished at the hero's fighting style.
Having him shrink and grow big during combos is a visual treat. It immediately makes the character a must-see fighter in the game and he arguably has the most creative combos. Sadly, the video is just a teaser and does not show off his finisher, so we will have to wait for that one.
Fans will notice how his costume is clearly based on his costume seen in Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. While his original costume is a classic, there's no denying how cool the costume looks in-game. Here is hoping that the gear he has in the game is just as neat.
Injustice 2 is available now on PS4 and Xbox One. A number of DLC characters have been released, including Red Hood, Sub-Zero, Starfire, Black Manta and just recently, Raiden. No release date for Atom or Hellboy has been revealed. If the recent release dates mean anything, we could see Hellboy in November and Atom in December.
