Hideo Kojima Explains Naked Norman Reedus Trailer And Gives Update On Death Stranding

There's been a lot of mystery surrounding Hideo Kojima's latest videogame project, Death Stranding. While the Japanese videogame auteur and creator of the Metal Gear series has been busy discussing the process of making the upcoming game, little has been known of Death Stranding's premise.

The stunning trailers for the promotional campaign has been nothing short of confusing – littered with puzzling visuals and what could be symbolic imagery, the clips have sparked an uproar in the videogaming community.

Now, according to a report by GameSpot, Kojima has decided to explain a tiny portion of the naked Norman Reedus Death Stranding trailer. Speaking at the Tribeca Games Festival last weekend, Kojima gave an update on the status of the game (his team is still experimenting with the core engine of the game) and then spoke about the intention behind the naked actor in the infamous trailer of the videogame.

"[Having Norman Reedus naked in the Death Stranding reveal trailer] is something I very specifically had in mind – I wanted people to see first a naked Norman. And then from there, you will be able to see him in different costumes, in different hairstyles, different equipment – and that's as much as I should say today."

Kojima is as vague as ever, explaining without really giving away anything concrete. Does the presentation of a naked Reedus hint at something more symbolic like a certain kind of vulnerability, or emptiness? Does the actor in different costumes and clothes mean growth? Is he an actor? Is he a character that plays multiple roles?

What seems to be certain is that we'll be seeing a lot more of Reedus in the game.

Death Stranding has no release date just yet, but we'll keep everyone updated as soon as we get wind.
