Dragon Ball Super introduced the Gods of Destruction to its canon when Akira Toriyama featured Beerus in a Dragon Ball film, and some fans are wondering if Goku will end up being a God of Destruction before the series wraps up.
A fan manga that was recently shared on Twitter featured Goku wearing an outfit similar to what Beerus wears. You can see the comic below:
Translator Todd Blankenship summed up the image: "It's a what-if where Goku has become God of Destruction."
Despite being a deity, Goku still remains humble in this comic. "Shin insists on calling him ‘lord,' but Goku would prefer him not to."
The current Dragon Ball Super saga doesn't seem to hint that Goku would transform into a God of Destruction anytime soon, but some fans believe that it could happen. After all, Beerus did say that Goku and Vegeta are strong enough to be Gods of Destruction in other universes, but they're still no match compared to him. The show already explained how someone could take over for a previous God of Destruction. A universe's angel such as Whis selects the candidates to take over the role, and they're trained. While Goku may have a strong potential to become one, it's just not in his character to destroy planets.
Dragon Ball Super is set to air on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami still airs the English dub of Dragon Ball Super on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
