The expanded cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 may make it harder to delve into in terms of revealing their backgrounds. But this may be far from the case, as Nebula actress Karen Gillan teased that fans will get to know more about the sisters' stories.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Gillan revealed that these revelations will even let fans look into Thanos' family and self in the process.
"We learn a lot about their backstory actually and what happened to these two girls growing up and actually how awful it was for them and how it's ruined their relationship and they're sort of going to freely talk about it, which has never happened between these two people."
What's more interesting is that the movie won't make use of any flashbacks to get there. Instead, Nebula and Gamora will be talking about this in a potential heart-to-heart scene between the sisters.
Actress Zoe Saldana adds that the way this backstory is utilized is also done as a response to fans' request to see a deeper look at the sisters. This is already interesting in itself, because Gamora is the favorite child, while Nebula is the sister who just wants the approval of Thanos despite her obvious loyalty.
"When it comes to her relationship with Nebula, I appreciate what James Gunn did. He definitely heard what the fans were saying, you know. To see this relationship extensively unfold and see what they're about and, I mean, but through their relationship you [get] like a closer idea of what Thanos is really about. I think it's really interesting to open up that window. And he certainly has with this sequel."
If we can expect all of this without even seeing Thanos in the movie, then we can definitely expect bigger stakes once he plays that big role in Avengers: Infinity War.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be out in theaters on May 5.
