Hayden Christensen Reveals His Thoughts On His Worst Star Wars Line

While Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker has a lot of cheesy but memorable lines in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, most fans would consider the young Jedi's tirade on sand as one of the most prominent. Taking Natalie Portman's Padme Amidala to the countryside of Naboo in Star Wars: Eposide II – Attack of the Clones, Anakin goes on rambling about sand before impulsively kissing the Queen-turned-Galactic-Senator.

"I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Not like here. Here everything is soft and smooth," Anakin says awkwardly.

Many Star Wars fans disliking the prequel trilogy have made this mundane ode to sand one of the many examples of the film's failings and while appearing during this year's Star Wars Celebration over the weekend, Christensen has decided to give his own thoughts on sand.

"Well you know, it's not very smooth. It doesn't really stay in one place, so I'm not such a big fan of it myself although if it leads to the water I can tolerate it. But Anakin came from a desert planet so I understood his contempt for it," the Star Wars actor jokingly responded in an interview with The Star Wars Show host Andi Gutierrez.

This joking retort to the line comes as no surprise. Many have criticized the weak dialogue of the Star Wars prequels and even original trilogy stars Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford have jokingly roasted George Lucas over difficult lines.

Though many fans have expressed dislike over Hayden's rendition of Anakin, it's great to see fans excitement in seeing the actor grace Star Wars Celebration after word spread that the character may appear in The Last Jedi as a Force Ghost.

Featuring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Lupita Nyong'o Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Benicio Del Toro, Kelly Marie Tran, and Laura Dern, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is scheduled to debut in cinemas on December 15, 2017.
