Hayao Miyazaki Comes Out of Retirement To Bring Fans Boro The Caterpillar

After releasing the breathtaking anime film The Wind Rises back in 2013, the legendary filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki announced that he'd be retiring "for real." Since then the Japanese film director, screenwriter, animator and mangaka has been busy working on a few personal projects, one of which is a project titled Kemushi no Boro; in English Boro the Caterpillar.

Though it was originally intended as a short film for the Ghibli Museum, word broke out a few months ago that Miyazaki wanted to take Boro the Caterpillar and turn it into a feature because he wasn't satisfied leaving it as a short.

Now, according to Kyodo (via Kotaku) Toshio Suzuki a producer for Studio Ghibli has just announced that the legendary animator has decided to come out of retirement to officially work on the new feature. Miyazaki is now making preparations for the Boro the Caterpillar, "a story of a tiny, hairy caterpillar, so tiny that it may be easily squished between your fingers."

"Right now in Tokyo, he's putting all his effort into making it [the feature]," Suzuki revealed.

Boro the Caterpillar's story is one that Miyazaki has been planning for almost 20 years. The production team aims to finish and release the film right before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Miyazaki fans can celebrate knowing that the legendary maser is coming back to give everyone one more story to fall in love with.
