Happy 60th Birthday, Carrie Fisher!


Happy Birthday to Carrie Fisher, who turns 60 today!

Fisher played the iconic role of Princess Leia in the original Star WarsTrilogy, which catapulted her to household name status. It had been 32 years since she appeared in a Star Wars movie; until she reprised her role last year as Leia in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Fisher was in her early 20s when Star Wars was released, and had few credits to her name at the time. As a teenager, she had a minor role in a Broadway production which starred her mother. Her first film debut was for Shampoo in 1975, which has an IMDB rating of 6.3. Carrie's big break came in her second career film for 1977's Star Wars. She competed with many well known actors in Hollywood for the part of Leia, including, Meryl Streep, Sigourney Weaver, Farrah Fawcett, Geena Davis, Glenn Close, and Kim Basinger.
