Handmaid’s Tale Director Met with Lucasfilm for a Mystery Project

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was a big success for Lucasfilm, and they've decided to move forward with a bunch of anthology Star Wars movies going down the line. The next one is going to be spinoff centered on Han Solo (Solo: A Star Wars Story) but we could be getting a movie from Handmaid's Tale director Reed Morano.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Morano revealed that she recently had a 2.5-hour long meeting with Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy. She explains:

"I guess she was watching with her daughter and then called people and was like, ‘Who's this Reed person?' She probably thought I was a guy because of my name. She's amazing. We're talking about adventure movies, and I'm not even remembering that she produced Goonies. Any movie that I put my finger on that I loved when I was growing up was a movie that she produced. Anyway, it was a great meeting. Obviously, I can't say anything about what else we were talking about."

The first guess that people have about this project that Lucasfilm is asking Morano to work on would be an anthology movie. Lucasfilm is yet to announce it, but everyone is almost dead sure that the next anthology will be focused on Obi-Wan Kenobi. Besides that, there's also the scrapped Boba Fett project that Josh Trank was supposed to work on.

If not for a film, Morano could have been called upon to work on the live-action Star Wars series for the small screen. The show is supposed to come with Disney's streaming service, and with Morano's experience, she could very well helm the pilot.

For now, all we can do is guess, but hopefully Lucasfilm makes an announcement soon.
