Han Solo: Ron Howard Gives Us First Look At Thandie Newton’s Character; Is She Playing An Imperial?

There are actually a lot of celebrities in the Han Solo spinoff, but we haven't been getting much on news on Westworld's Thandie Newton who is also in the film. With the reshoots going on, Ron Howard has shared a first look at Newton in costume, and some have been lead to believe that she's playing an Imperial officer.

Check it out:

Looking at where Howard's right hand is, he's covering up a patch on Newton's shoulder that could very well be for an Imperial. Then again, the Star Wars universe is filled with multiple groups and collectives; Newton could be playing a member of a criminal gang or maybe a pit crew of racers.

We've had hints at several characters in the show including Emilia Clarke's and Woody Harrelson's, but things have been quiet for whoever Newton is playing. At some point I thought she would be playing an alien character.

Another takeaway from this post is that Howard will be adding new key scenes to the movie. With Han Solo allegedly going back to the original script, it was possible that the material that Phil Lord and Chris Miller had worked with has left some plot holes that needed filling.

Things look to be going on schedule for the Han Solo movie, and the film is still expected to hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
