Han Solo: Is Maz Kanata Going To Make An Appearance?

Star Wars fans were introduced to Maz Kanata in The Force Awakens back in 2015, and with the character's lifetime to span multiple eras in the universe, it's entirely possible for her to show up in other anthology films set in the original trilogy timeline. Rumor has it Kanata could possibly be showing up in the upcoming Han Solo spinoff.

The news comes from the Steele Wars Podcast who was able to chat with a representative from Funko who, when asked about the Han Solo figure lineup, said that they has an impressive output for characters of "Emilia Clarke, Lupita Nyong'o, Donald Glover, and Woody Harrelson."

Though we've known for a while that Clarke, Glover, and Harrelson will be in the movie, this is the first we've heard of Nyong'o being connected to the film. Of course, it's entirely possible that Funko is simply working on a pop for Maz and it's unrelated to the Han Solo movie, but the odds of her showing up in Han Solo are definitely good.

There are other reasons why Nyong'o could have been mentioned, but her being a part of the Star Wars underworld and being an prominent member of that society make it entirely reasonable for her to make an appearance in Han Solo. In other cases, what's so bad about seeing Maz during another timeline? I'm definitely up for seeing her again. I'd even want her to be part of the bigger adventure if she can.
